After the death of former Uruguayan President José “Pepe” Mujica on May 13, 2025, statements poured in from the left to the right, from the United Nations to France 24, from political parties… and unions… and internationally, about the personality of José Mujica. I noticed that we are talking about Mujica’s exceptional personality… and what is widely prevalent is logic: mention the good qualities of your dead and speak well of them..!! Here are some observations:
After his release in March 1985 and as President of Uruguay from 2010 to 2015, Mujica shifted his political objectives toward conservative positions and coexistence with the capitalist system of domination, seeking to improve the social situation without compromising the interests of multinational corporations, foreign capitalists, and Uruguayan capitalists. At the same time, he sought to enable them to benefit from enormous tax advantages, among other things. He supported foreign capital investments in the agricultural, mining, and oil sectors. He steered the Uruguayan economy toward dependence on multinational corporations and continued exploitation of man by man. At the same time, Mujica launched his criticism of Cuba, saying, “I supported the Cuban revolution in my youth, but now I say no to proletarian dictatorships.” He also described Nicolás Maduro, President of Venezuela, as a dictator and considered Venezuela and Ortega, President of Nicaragua, authoritarian regimes.
In 2010, Uruguayan President José Mujica received the “Jerusalem 2010” Prize, awarded by the Zionist Organization of Uruguay (ZOU), at a ceremony attended by the Honorary President and Chairman of the Jury of the ZOU, the Ambassador of Israel, the Representative of the ZOU in Latin America, and the President of the ZOU. On this occasion, President José Mujica affirmed his admiration for “the history of the struggle of the Jewish people.” A man of the left speaks of a Jewish people… while the Jewish people do not exist and never have existed… Mujica added, “How can we not admire the Jewish people, who have preserved their identity in the diaspora, everywhere, for centuries, united, believing in their God and their hope?” It’s deception…
May 15, 2025, is the Nakba Day of the Palestinian people. It is the day on which the establishment of the Zionist entity was declared on most of the Palestinian territories. May 15, 1948, that is, more than 77 years ago, the Palestinian people have been struggling against displacement, starvation, and slaughter by the racist, criminal, genocidal Zionist colonial entity, which is based specifically on the Jewish religion and what is internationally referred to as the Jewish people.
The measure of a person’s progress, or even their humanity, lies in their true positions on the issues of the people, foremost among them the issues of the Palestinian people. This applies to individuals, groups, regimes, and organizations…
We must not normalize with the colonial Zionist entity, nor must we normalize with the criminals of genocide.
