As we welcome 2025, the World Federation of Trade Unions (WFTU) extends its militant and class greetings to workers, trade unionists, and progressive peoples around the world. The new year is an opportunity to renew our determination to continue the struggles for workers’ rights, peace and social justice.

The World Federation of Trade Unions on the 3rd of October every year celebrates the historic anniversary of its founding as it deserves, with international mobilization through its declaration as an International Action Day. On this extraordinary occasion of its 79th anniversary that marks the entry of our Federation into its 80th year of existence and struggle, the working class all over the world, the militant and class-oriented trade unions, should honor this day with militant and massive activities in all continents and regions.

On May 9, 2024, the 79th anniversary of the Great Anti-Fascist Victory, the IWI held on the ZOOM platform the 3rd seminar of its 2nd cycle of trade union training, entitled: “Historical lessons from the USSR for the contemporary militant trade union movement”.
The WFTU calls on its affiliates and friends, class-oriented and militant trade unions around the world to organise mobilizations and demonstrations, both in the streets, but in the workplaces as well, with the poster of the campaign and Palestinian flags, under the slogan:
“The workers of the world stand with Palestine!”
For the WFTU it is clear that the only way to secure and consolidate peace and security for the people in Palestine and Israel, but also in the wider Middle East, is to immediately end the Israeli occupation and settlement in the occupied Arab territories, as provided for in the UN resolutions, and to establish an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital and guarantee the right of return of Palestinian refugees.
